Father Muller College of Nursing

Father Muller College of Nursing is a unit of Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI), a registered society sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Mangalore. It was established primarily for the benefit of Christian community members. It is affiliated to RGUHS, Bengaluru and recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC). Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI) began its journey with Rev. Fr Augustus Muller SJ, a German Jesuit missionary in 1880 mainly to aid in healing of the sick and suffering. In 1959, an impetus for trained nurses began with the General Nursing & Midwifery Program (GNM).

Father Muller College of Nursing (FMCON) is not just an institution in itself but a beacon of tradition, diversity, and innovation. Our BSc (N) program, which commenced on 2nd Nov 1987, having over the years grown exponentially, overcoming the initial challenges of limited infrastructure and manpower. Today, we stand tall offering nursing programs with the best infrastructure, manpower, and resources; a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence.

Col. Ms. Thyagarajan, an army retired nurse, played a crucial role as the first principal of the Basic BSc nursing program. Her efforts paved the way for GNM graduates to pursue higher studies in nursing, and as a result, the PB BSc (N) program was started in 1988. Her vast experience and dynamic personality provided a strong foundation for the nursing program.

Over the years, the college expanded its academic offerings with the Master's in nursing program in 1992 with five specializations. In 2023, the first Ph.D. student in Community Health Nursing enrolled, and now we have two specializations (Medical-Surgical Nursing, and Community Health Nursing) Ph.D. guides recognized by RGUHS, Bangaluru.

Our faculties have grown in academic stature with doctorate degrees, while many of them embarking on higher academic degrees. This brings pride and prestige to an already honored faculty. Our institution embraces modern teaching methodologies and stays open to change, ensuring our students receive the best education. We instill in our students the values of respect, compassion, and proficiency in caregiving, preparing them for a successful career in nursing. The achievements of our graduates, who have gone on to serve in prestigious positions, stand as a testament to our commitment to excellence.
