Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing was established in the year 1997 under the Laxmi Memorial Education Trust with an aim to provide quality nursing education and prepare nurses with high level of professional competence. It is one of the beginning educational endeavours of L.M.E.T which is promoted by Shri. A.J. Shetty. The College is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore and is permanently recognised by the Indian Nursing Council [INC] New Delhi and Karnataka State Nursing Council Bangalore.
Laxmi Memorial College of Physiotherapy was established by Laxmi Memorial Education Trust, Mangalore, in the year 1993, recognising the need for professionals in the field of Physiotherapy. In 22 years, the college has grown into a premier institution in the field of Physiotherapy in South India, and distinguished alumni of the college can be found across the globe.
Established in the year 1993, then affiliated to Mangalore University, the college is presently affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) Karnataka since 1997. Presently the college is approved for 100 Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) seats and 30 Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) seats. It is also a recognised Ph.D. centre under RGUHS from the year 2010.The college is attached to the A.J Institute of Medical Sciences (AJIMS) hospital, Mangalore, also run by the Laxmi Memorial Education Trust. It is an 1100 bedded multispecialty hospital with all the major departments and treats a large number of in-patients and out- patients every day. The hospital possesses the most modern research facilities like a laboratory accredited by the NABL, radio diagnostic equipment including X- ray, MRI and CT scans and electro diagnostic equipment including EMG, NCV, and EEG etc.
